(STGCC 09) Day 01

Photobucket

I made the above banner to make identifying Nendo-friends easier among the crowds at STGCC day #02. =) This design will be pasted on my lovely Nendo-carrier/travel case/luggage thing. So if you spot this just approach me and say “Hi!”. And now… onto a quick review of Day #01 of STGCC. (Some pictures were taken by Nyanko-sempai with his PnS, and some were taken with a D50 that had a psychotic Prime lens.)

Photobucket

Before going to the event itself, it was a trip to Funan to grab a new D50 batt charger. Parked at TCC for an hour to charge the camera and had fun with our dollies while we waited. I’ll post the pictures from that in another post because they turned out surprisingly awesome.

Photobucket

The lovely Yuki Nagato (Figma) volunteered to be the Camera Assistant for the day.

Photobucket

I planned for Lelouch to do the honors but he wanted to have a longer lens. So Yuki got the post instead. =D

Photobucket

First thing that caught my eye was this crazy cute Raving Rabbits cutout banner.

Photobucket

And of course, I got some Nendo pictures taken. =)

Photobucket

Spot the Nendo Petite:

Photobucket

And here you go!

Photobucket

Pretty illustrations for Avalon Code for NDS.

Photobucket

Dokuronoko… I have no idea what they are but they are cute! I’ll have to go back and get some. Didn’t buy anything at all today.

Photobucket

OAO

Photobucket

A mountain of Ugly Dolls.

Photobucket

They come in keychain sizes too!

Photobucket

These guys look lonely.

Photobucket

So Rin chats them up.

Photobucket

And continues to make new friends.

Photobucket

With Penguin-san and Tako-san.

Photobucket

Yuki wanted to make friends too. But some of the exhibits weren’t too friendly.

Photobucket

And Yuki got into a tight spot.

Photobucket

Rin stumbled upon some cute sheep.  (Taken with PnS)

Photobucket

And didn’t want to let them go. ^^ (Taken with D50)

Photobucket

And onto the Blythe dolls!

Photobucket

Gorgeous dolls. I really love how beautiful they look.

Photobucket

Apparently they are for some competition?

Photobucket

I was too engross in taking pictures and didn’t notice what they were on display for. I should go back and find out.

Photobucket

These are the finalists. I think.

Photobucket

The stupid D50’s focus was being temperamental… which resulted in a sharp focus on this doll’s intricate petticoats.

Photobucket

I’m still amazed at the detailing of the whole costume.

Photobucket

Even the eyelashes were adorned with pearl beads.

Photobucket

My favourite picture.

Photobucket

She has the most expressive eyes.

Photobucket

And rainbow Blythe!

Photobucket

I found this backdrop rather cool.

Photobucket

as well as the range of independent artists work available.

Photobucket

-Rawr-

Photobucket

I love these illustrations.

Photobucket

And was tempted to get merchandise.

Photobucket

But didn’t buy anything because I got distracted by other things. ^^”

Photobucket

Tofu-san!

Photobucket

And some cute keychain things.

Photobucket

Now for more random plushies and figures.

Photobucket

OAO OAO

Photobucket

Kamen-Rider!!

Photobucket

Chibi Gundam!

Photobucket

Some original designer’s paper dolls

Photobucket

Photobucket

And these are actually baby t-shirts. Makes me wish I had a kid to dress up in this cute -tees.

Photobucket

More adorable thingies.

Photobucket

I love the setup…

Photobucket

… but it was kindof hidden.

Photobucket

Gotta find out the booth name. ^^”

Photobucket

Chibi Nyanko badges.

Photobucket

and some Inu gashapon.

Photobucket

breadou!

Photobucket

Notice anything? (*Hint: a certain Nendoroid)

Photobucket

F1 night races are back in town

Photobucket

And this booth by S’pore Poly had an amazing lego model of a racecar.

Photobucket

They were really nice about letting the Nendos have fun with their props. Too bad my D50 was being naughty again and refused to cooperate.

Photobucket

This little device that Yuki is interested in is not some eroge. It’s a virtual pet thing… sort of like a tamagotchi but more interactive. You have to stick your finger into a hole on the side to play with the digital pet.

Photobucket

Ended up spending the whole afternoon trawling STGCC and felt really hungry so we heading over to Marina Square where I insisted that we have Sukiyaki. So we ended up at Suki.Ya, a Shabu shabu/sukiyaki buffet restaurant.

Photobucket

And an idiot’s guide to eating Sukiyaki & Shabu shabu.

Photobucket

It was a healthy meal as it involved enough vegetables to feed a few cows…

Photobucket

… and one hungry Nendoroid. =D

And that’s it for day one. Will be heading down for Day #02 to meetup with Kodomut.

You got a good coverage of the event. BTw how did you manage to stick the figures on the poster of GTA? Looking at your picture, I really need to get a SLR… 😦

    • August 16, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Thanks! As for the sticking of figures… Bluetack is my good friend. =D I carry around a huge ball of blue-tack so that I can pose my figures without having to struggle with the acrylic base.

A DSLR is certainly a useful tool to have, but sometimes, I prefer my point-and-shoot camera as it is more flexible to whip out and just take pictures. =)
