(Dailybits) teadot

Teadot

Been hanging out at Teadot@Iluma lately. The drinks are mostly teas but they have a small selection of coffee as well. While the prices are a little on the high side, the drinks are tasty and cakes are yummy. And if you have one of the stamp cards, there is some discount to reward loyal customers. =) My favorite drink so far is ‘Simply Matcha’ which is a tea frappe. But I also recommend ‘Angel’s Breath’, a hot tea that leaves a fragrance aftertaste, or ‘Arctic Brew’, Oolong tea with a zest orange.

It’s a great place to chill and get some work done. There are plenty of spots to plug-in and type away on Sebby-chan, or in this case, Ennoia that belongs to Nyanko-sempai (as seen in the picture).

But the place gets pretty cold after an extended stay, so bring a jacket! Only complain is that the toilet is quite a distance away. =D

(Dailybits) Toy’s works Taiga

September 25, 2009 4 comments

“Chara-ani is going to release the ToraDora Toy’s works collection 2.5 ( とらドラ! トイズワークスコレクション にいてんご ) trading figure from the light novel/anime “ToraDora!” ( とらドラ!). Will be released in August 2009. 12 pieces in a box, 7 kinds + α in total. 7,772 yen.” – Neko Magic

I got two of such figures and here’s just a quick snapshot of Toramimi Taiga. She is made of adorable-ness!! The figure itself is not as refined as those of the same scale like  Nendoroid Puchi. The sample pictures of each figure as posted on Neko Magic looks much better than the originals. Still, they looks cute from a distance and are light enough for everyday travel to be used in spontaneous photography. ^^

Though I already have some pictures of the other character I got, the identity of the mysterious figure will only be revealed tomorrow! =D

(Dailybits) Mr. Curry

September 24, 2009 11 comments

Looks like this blog is morphing into a food blog… given the pictures of food and foodie places I have been taking lately. =)

Pictures for today are from yesterday’s dinner at Mr.Curry. The restaurant is part of the Waraku family, specializing in Japanese Curry. A previous visit to the place is can be found here, where Nendo Yako was running free, stealing bites from the curry and Parfait dishes.

Spot the Nendochi~!

Here’s Yuki! Hiding in is cute toothpick holder.

Photobucket

Yuki taking an interest in the cheese and chilli containers. The shop has changed the holders since my last visit. =x They used to be cooler than these generic plastic things.

Photobucket

A kitty motif that perks up the meal. ^^

Mr.Curry has some quite an interesting interior designs, like a country kitchen, which consists of  this awesomely huge pot!

(Dailybits) Nanami Suisan Lunch

September 23, 2009 8 comments

Hiding in the basement of Central@CQ to get some work done, but I find myself super distracted by the things happening around me instead. =)

Had this for lunch. Kimchi ramen + Gyoza lunch. Not bad. But not exactly fantastic too. =X It was served prettily but looked better than it tasted.

(Dailybits) East to West

September 21, 2009 5 comments

The great thing about have a point-n-shoot is that it’s easy to whip it out and take some quick snapshots when the sudden burst of inspiration occurs. Of course, I’ve to credit  Nendoroid Puchi (Nendochi) Yuki Nagato for being a readily available model.
Photobucket

So what is Nendochi Yuki looking at?

Photobucket

She’s looking out from the food court windows of Tampines One. And in the picture above, you can see both a MRT station and bus interchange.

In Singapore, the standard colour for public buses are red with a dash of white and purple, while the trains are just white with a touch of red. And together with a portion of the Taxi industry, they all fall under the care of SMRT. Compared to other countries, local public transport is cheap and you can travel from one end of the country to the other under S$2 (if you take the train). Which is what I do each week. ^^”

Photobucket

I stay in Tampines, which is a HDB estate that is in the extreme East of Singapore. The picture above is an example of the types of HDB blocks that are pepper around our tiny island and houses majority of our population. However, I’m currently studying in Jurong which is on the other extreme end from where I stay!! Fortunately, I stay in the school hostels during the week. But during the weekend,  I make a “Journey to the West” so I can spend some time at home with my family.

Photobucket

But before embarking on my epic journey back to the halls, I need to have some food! And here, is a picture of a local dish (?) called “小碗面” which literally translates to “little bowl of noodles”. It is “mee pok”, the flat yellow noodles, in mushroom and vinegar sauces together with a mini-wok of soup filled with ingredients like fishballs, pork bits and egg etc.

Photobucket

And after the 1 1/2hr journey, I’m in Jurong point (the mall next to Boon Lay MRT station) with  Nendochi Yuki, who is guarding my Mocha ice-blended from Coffee Bean, as I type this post from the said cafe.

Photobucket

As I previously neglected to give my mobile broadband modem any credit, here’s a picture of the usb dongle. The sheep above is Shirley, from Shaun the Sheep.  And the blurry paddle-like thing is actually has an image of Alice from Aria, dangling from Maa-kun.  Both are prizes from Gashapon Machines which I have an irresistible attraction to (but that’s a topic for another day). I attached the dangling thingies to the cap of my USB dongle, as I have a high tendency to lose tiny things. ^^

I think it’s time for me to wrap this post up and start on my Literature essay. =) Till next time. -Dcal

(Update) Reality check

September 21, 2009 4 comments

Been caught up with a whole mountain of school work lately, and it’s not going to end anytime soon. As such, instead of going on hiatus completely, I’ll be giving myself the luxury of taking a bit of time everyday to make a simple picture post. Then maybe, at the end of each week, I’ll make a major post out of all my bits and pieces for an entry on Figure.fm. Sort of like Comrade Kodomut’s “A week in the life of figures”.

I think that it is important for me to continue pursuing this budding passion for figure photography as a way of expressing my creative self.   But for now, I’ll have to prioritize my studies as I have a responsibility and commitment to fulfill. And hopefully, when I’ve more free time, I’ll be able to branch out and recapture my other passions.

Putting all that melodrama aside, I shall start the ball rolling with this picture of Nendo Puchii Usamimi Yuki. I was at MOS burger in Orchard Central today and took quite a lot of pictures. =)  It’s a really nice place to park and take some pictures! There were some interesting displays and the dollies I brought along had quite a bit of fun with the colourful decorations.

Yuki_Densha copy

Edited the picture and typing all this from Netbook Sebby-chan. I’m surprised Sebby-chan didn’t K.O from running Photoshop. =) Looks like it’ll be fun to edit pictures on the move. Nyanko-sempai and I were considering the possibility of setting up a live-feed of images for next week’s Mid-Autumn Festival Meetup.

Do you think it’ll be a cool idea to have a live streaming of images ?
